Meet our
2024 Holigays Featured Artist!
This year’s design for the Holigay’s market was created by Z Mata of Blozzom Art. The original artwork was completed as a reduction print, a form of printmaking that uses a single linoleum block to create a hand-carved, layered, multi-colored image. The piece’s floral arrangement features queer iconography like violets, pansies, and lavender, while also highlighting pine cones and holly to invoke the holiday spirit. Each print is one of a kind and limited edition.

Z Mata is a mixed media artist whose primary medium is printmaking using linoleum blocks. Commitment and patience are vital to their creative process as hand carving each element in a design can be tedious, but the satisfaction of completing a piece makes the time and effort well worth it. The elements commonly featured in their work, like fungi and flowers, connect them to their queerness, while striking black outlines accentuate the bright, natural colors on display. When not printmaking, Z enjoys taking photos of mushrooms in the woods, reading, watching movies, and talking to their houseplants.
